Central London’s office market for the first half of the year suffered a 50% fall in take-up, says research company CoStar.

CoStar’s Central London Office Market Report H2 showed a 74% drop in Midtown and a 54% drop in the City.

It said there was 30m sq ft of available office space in total across central London – an increase of 16% on the first half of 2007 – and 14.8m sq ft was available in the City and 4m sq ft in the West End.

It said the City market would show the most significant fall in take-up and ‘will be a barometer for the market as a whole’.
