Foreign investment into London has remained at record levels in spite of the global economic crisis – much to the surprise of inward investment chiefs who had predicted a tough year.
Think London, the capital’s inward investment agency, will today report that as many as 178 overseas-owned companies set up or expanded operations in the capital in the last financial year, almost the same figure as in 2007-08.
A total of 6,190 jobs were created or safeguarded by foreign direct investment, which came from 26 countries. This was slightly higher than the previous year’s 6,152 jobs.
