Two mixed-use schemes in Derby received planning permission this week as a part of the £2bn regeneration of the city centre.
Wilson Bowden’s £30m Number One Cathedral Green and Blueprint’s £16m Bold Lane scheme were both granted consent by Derby City Council.
The Cathedral Green development will include 100,000 sq ft of offices and 125 apartments on the banks of the River Derwent next to a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Bold scheme
Blueprint’s Bold Lane scheme includes 40,000 sq ft of offices, 25 flats and seven retail units as well as open spaces and roof gardens, designed by architects Ash Sakula.
The schemes had to overcome objections from the Environment Agency and English Heritage respectively.
Planning triumph
The planning success brings the total number of projects in Derby’s development pipeline to £500m.
The scheme is part of the masterplan launched by Cityscape in January 2005. Last October the £340m Westfield Derby retail and leisure centre was opened.
