Morrisons, the UK’s fourth largest supermarket group, is planning to build a major new distribution hub on the former Gerber Foods Factory site in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The supermarket bought the 20-acre site, known as Express Link, this week with plans to construct up to 400,000 sq ft on the site, which has existing buildings.

The site is next to TCN’s Express Park, a 105-acre mixed-use development comprising four office buildings, 1.1m sq ft of warehousing and a facilities building including a health club and theatre.

Expansion plans

A spokesperson for Morrisons said the supermarket hoped the site would be ‘very important in our future operation and expansion throughout the South West of England.’

Geoff Revell, managing director of TCN Express Park said: ‘We have been aware of Morrisons’ requirement for quite some time and working with the council we are extremely pleased that Express Link will satisfy their needs.

'This is a tremendous boost for North Bridgwater and the local economy.’

Alder King, DTZ and Lambert Smith Hampton represented TCN Express Park.
