National Tyres, one of the UK’s largest independent motor repair groups, has been put up for sale for £75m-£100m. Daily Telegraph

The Scotland-based company, which sells and fits tyres, exhausts, batteries and other automotive parts, has hired PricewaterhouseCoopers to advise on a strategic review that could lead to a sale of the business.

National Tyres has more than 200 branches, many of which are freehold-owned properties.

Nationwide Autos has already made an approach to buy the company. Other bidders are thought to include Micheldever Tyres and Scottish-based rival Kwik-Fit. All the rival bidders are owned by private equity groups.
