New figures show 86% fall in business rates appeals

The number of appeals started in the 15 months since the 2017 rates revaluation has fallen year-on-year by more than 86% according to the VOA’s newest figures.

Since the revaluation came into effect on 21 April 2017, proceedings to challenge VOA assessments were commenced for 36,310 properties in England, a fall of more than 86% on the 266,870 appeals during the corresponding period after the 2010 revaluation.
