Nottingham and Reading join 'first-class' student towns

Nottingham and Reading have risen through the ranks to become ‘first-class’ locations for student accommodation development, according to Savills’ latest Student Housing Spotlight.

The Midlands city and the Thames Valley town have moved from ‘upper second’ in last year’s report to join Bath, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Edinburgh, Guildford, London, Manchester and Oxford in the top flight.

Lawrence Bowles, residential research analyst at Savills, said Nottingham and Reading had both “seen relatively subdued levels of purpose-built student accommodation supply in the past few years, while student demand has grown”.
