Dobbies Garden Centres has warned it will miss City profit forecasts following the poor summer.

It had been expected to make pretax profits of around £6.5m. Analysts at Seymour Pierce say it could make only £5.3m.

Tesco controls 53.1% of the company’s shares, but Sir Tom Hunter has rejected a £15-a-share bid and is refusing to sell his 29% stake, preventing the supermarket group from taking Dobbies private.
