Project Blue, the joint venture between Christian Candy’s CPC and Qatari Diar, have made a number of major design changes to their Chelsea Barracks development in Westminster.

The joint venture have reduced the height and massing of the affordable housing element to create a 1.3 acre public open area at the 12.8 acre site. Project Blue will remove a proposed café while a proposed hotel at the junction of Pimlico Road and Lower Sloane Street will be set back to preserve an existing tree.

Ghanim bin Saad al-Saad, CEO of Qatari Diar, said: ‘Qatari Diar is committed to enhancing the neighbourhoods in which it has developments. Following the public meeting held at Westminster City Council on 4th September to consider the design proposal for the redevelopment of Chelsea Barracks, in recent weeks we have been taking soundings from our neighbours at Chelsea Barracks.

‘As a result, the Project Blue architects have responded with design changes which we are confident address all our stakeholders’ concerns including a reduction in the height and massing of the affordable housing and the creation of a large public open space.’

‘We are very pleased with our relationship with Candy & Candy and CPC Group who have helped us expand our presence in this very important market, and they will continue to work closely on development management, branding, marketing and interior design of Chelsea Barracks.’

Christian Candy, founder of CPC Group, said: ‘With our partners, Qatari Diar we are looking forward to creating a landmark development of international repute. PBGL’s design has been changed recently following extensive consultation with all local stakeholders and Westminster City Council officers and we are pleased with these changes.

'We are confident that together we will deliver a 21st century residential development that is sensitive to the needs of the local community.’
