ReBlackpool, the company charged with bringing about the Blackpool’s regeneration, has appointed three new board members.

Planning and regeneration expert Mike Appleton, Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester and Ged Fitzgerald, the chief executive of Lancashire County Council, were voted onto the board on February 4 and join chairman Sir Howard Bernstein and 10 other existing board members.

Sir Howard, who became Chair of ReBlackpool in July 2008, said: ‘ReBlackpool has benefitted from the talents of so many high achieving individuals and the appointment of Mike, Andrew and Ged strengthens the team hugely.

‘ReBlackpool are committed to bold, radical thinking and action to ensure the future success of the town including provisions for improved housing, education opportunities and a better shopping experience.’

Doug Garrett, chief executive of ReBlackpool, said: ‘We are all united in our desire to help turn the fortunes of Blackpool around through an effective regeneration programme, boosting visitor numbers throughout the year and making it a more attractive place to live and do business.’
