Scottish landowners Andrew and Jennifer Malcolm have unveiled plans for a £100m ‘green’ leisure resort in the Irvine Valley area in the west of Scotland

The new ‘environmentally led destination resort’, located off the M77, will be called ‘Allseasons at the Meadows’ and will comprise a luxury hotel, holiday and visitor resort built around a manmade 25 acre (10 ha) loch.

The hotel, 100 holiday lodges, health facilities and a restaurant will be built in the first phase. The second phase will comprise the construction of a harbour and further restaurant facilities.

It will take five years to complete. The completion date is timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the birth of poet Robert Burns and the British Open Championships, which are being held at nearby Turnberry.

The owners have still to submit the plans to East Ayrshire Council.

‘This development will be a first for Scotland in terms of providing an environmentally led tourist destination.' said Andrew Malcolm.

‘It has its roots in Green tourism. The hotel will be powered by solar panels and wind turbines to make it environmentally friendly and sustainable, and wildlife viewing areas will allow all visitors to see Scottish wildlife in their natural habitats including fox, roe deer, and otter.’
