Whitbread and development partner Demar Holdings has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for an 80-bed hub by Premier Inn hotel on Camden High Street.

Last week, Camden Borough Council’s Planning Committee resolved to grant planning permission to develop the Sports Direct retail store into a hotel.

Demar Holdings will demolish the current building and create a four and five-storey building which will sit alongside a ground floor retail space and three social affordable flats.

The hotel will be the Whitbread’s second hub hotel in the borough.

“Camden is one of London’s best destinations. Its unique character, connections and world-class attractions make it an extremely popular destination for domestic and international travellers and demand for hotel rooms in Camden Town and across the borough is growing,” said Louise Woodruff, acquisitions manager for Whitbread.

“Our goal is to create a building which suits its context, fits our operational requirements and would make a positive contribution to Camden High Street.”
