Inditex, the Spanish company that owns clothing retailer Zara, reported a 25% rise in profits for the year to 31 January after a year of global expansion.

It opened 439 stores in the year, including five Zara stores in the UK, and made net profits of €1bn (£679m).

It said that it had invested more than €1bn on its worldwide expansion programme. It has 3,131 stores in 64 countries, including 50 in the UK.
