So many things fell off the property industry’s social calendar last year due to the pandemic, including the Microscope Ball, the flagship event for the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK), which represents the 70,000 people in the UK who live with muscle-wasting conditions.

In 2020, MDUK missed out on £2.4m as all in-person fundraising events — including the ball — were cancelled.

Thankfully the property industry stepped up to the plate and raised money via fundraising challenges as well as helping to transform the Microscope Ball into a virtual party, which raised more than £80,000 for the charity.

This year, MDUK hopes the 37th Microscope Ball, of which Property Week is a media partner, will take place at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel on 23 September 2021 with the theme: #NotAllHeroesWear Capes. Michelle Anthony, chair of the Microscope Ball, said: “The party is always a special night but this year will be truly spectacular — we’ve a lot of time and money to make up for!”
