LondonMetric said it was positioning its portfolio to benefit from the rise of online shopping, after reporting a 10.9% property return and pre-tax profit of £82.7m in annual results.

The FTSE 250- listed investor said distribution was the best-performing retail subsector due to “rapidly changing consumer shopping patterns and retailers’ need to continually invest in distribution capabilities to stay competitive”.

Its exposure to logistics had risen from 20% to 54% of the portfolio.

More recently, for its financial year to 31 March 2022, the firm, now a logistics specialist, reported a profit of £734.5m.
