Countryside appoints former plumbing boss as chairman

Countryside’s Great Kneighton scheme in Cambridge

Countryside Properties has appointed John Martin to become the group’s non-executive chairman.

Martin, who will succeed David Howell on 1 May, was previously chief executive of FTSE 100 plumbing and distribution group Ferguson. He was also a partner at private equity group Alchemy Partners, and served as chief financial officer of Travelex and Hays. He is also currently a non-executive director of Ocado.
