Big Yellow storage company director David Ross has tendered his resignation.

The co-founder of Carphone Warehouse also quit as chair of train company National Express and stepped down from his advisory role on the London Olympics all in the same week.

In a statement to the stock market this morning, Big Yellow chairman Nicholas Vetch said: 'It is with sadness that we have accepted David's resignation.

‘He joined the Board in March 2000 at the time of our IPO, and has provided tremendous support to me, James Gibson and Philip Burks over that time, and has helped us steer Big Yellow over the past eight years. I, and the rest of the Board, will miss his valued guidance and experience and wish him well for the future.'
