While last year’s inaugural CBRE Great Property Bike Ride was a tremendous success, I’m calling on all cyclists to sign up and make this one bigger and even better.

CBRE Great Property Bike Ride 2014

CBRE Great Property Bike Ride 2014

Supported by our media partner, Property Week, the ride takes place on 30 July and will involve a 25, 50 or 100 km cycle through the Surrey Hills. It is an event for everyone, regardless of when you last found yourself riding a bike; you can choose your preferred route and are welcome to bring friends and family.

The goal is to smash our target of raising more than £100,000 for Shelter, a charity supporting those who lack the most basic requirement of safe and secure housing. Every year, Shelter assists more than three million people who are struggling with inadequate housing or homelessness and actively campaigns to prevent these problems arising in the first place. CBRE will be taking care of the administration costs for the ride, so all the money raised on the day will go towards achieving our target and make it possible for Shelter to make a difference to some 1,300 families around the UK.

Knowing that you are raising money for such a good cause will make the ride even more enjoyable. You also will earn the bragging rights to having cycled the famous road race route of London 2012 – taking on Bradley’s time and getting to grips with the zig-zags on Box Hill, the inclines of Leith Hill and the defibrillator on White Down. It is a fantastic, sociable event so get involved and use this as a legitimate excuse to spend weekends in the saddle, getting some miles in your legs

With just over two months to go, I find myself saddled with the task of writing a weekly blog. I must Raleigh the troops and do what I can to encourage as many of you as possible to get involved, through updating you on my high altitude training in the Pyrenees, and explaining the joys of owning a Master Blaster trigger-feed tyre inflator.
